It is one of the four major championships in men's professional golf, and is the golf season's final major, usually played in mid-August, customarily four weeks after The Open Championship. The first PGA Championship was held later in 1916 at Siwanoy Country Club in Eastchester, New York. The winner, Jim Barnes, received $500 and a diamond-studded gold medal donated by Rodman Wanamaker.
Since then, this tournament was annually organized by USGA and attracted many professional golfers including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson or Vijay Singh, Davis Love III..etc.. The 2010 winner, Martin Kaymer, earned $1.35 million and Whistling Straits, Wisconsin state was selected to a place for organizing this tournament.

Atlanta Athenic Club (AAC) is one of the most re – known sports complex in America, including of golf course. AAC has two major golf course, consist of Highlands Course và River Course. They are designed by a famous architecture Robert Trent Jones with length of 7613 yards, 72 par (Highlands Course ) and River Course is 7428 yards, 72 par (River Course).
He designed more 500 golf courses both in America and in 35 other countries. AAC was selected to host the reputed tournaments such as U.S Women’s Open (1990) at Riverside Course, Ryder Cup (1963), U.S Open (1976) and PGA Championship (1981 and 2001) at Highlands Course.
At this, golfer of Germany Martin Kaymer won first time victory in 2010. It has been a motive for him to reach position of number 3 following PGA rankings. 2011, he said to continuously join in this tournament and hoped for more position. And here, Former PGA Champion and three-time major winner Larry Nelson will receive The PGA of America's highest honor on Aug. 10 in conjunction with the 93rd PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club.

Spectators may accept or make phone calls in designated areas throughout the golf course, primarily near concession stands. Digital messaging and checking data is allowed on the golf course. Cell phone camera use is only permitted during the Practice Rounds. No video recording will be permitted at any time during Championship Week.
