LYTHAM ST. ANNES -- Tiger Woods had the field on their collective heels early on Thursday at the 141st Open Championship, carding four birdies in his first seven holes and taking the early lead.
But Woods failed to birdie again after the par-5 7th hole and carded a solid, but not spectacular, 3-under 67 to sit three shots back of early leader Adam Scott (who tied the course record with his 6-under 64).
Woods spent much of the day using iron off the tee - he missed only one fairway on the day, which led to his only bogey on the par-4 15th hole - and obviously playing to a game plan. He also hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation.
Take a look at how Tiger's round unfolded, and stay tuned as we keep you up-to-date on the latest happenings at Royal Lytham as the afternoon groups get underway.
